I am very much a multi-media painter - working from a base of watercolour and building up layers of inks, pastels, charcoal, wax crayons etc. - in fact, anything that gives me the right tones and textures of Nature. I am definitely NOT a purist! There is much scraping and scratching involved in my process (and a little brushwork) with the final painting often held together with strips of sellotape - that's why I rarely sell originals!
I am unusually prolific and capture my daily dog walks and cycle rides. So, if you are after a particular scene in the East Sussex area, there's a good chance I have painted it at some time. Please ask.
I have finally been persuaded to exhibit and sell my work. All paintings on my website are available as high-quality, signed prints on either Canvas or as Framed Prints.

In between commissions, Carole paints landscapes, seascapes, and botanicals in either a contemporary or a realistic style. She also paints semi-abstract landscape impressions inspired by caves, woodlands and forests.
Carole exhibits her work independently, in galleries and within groups and holds an open studio via the Horsham Artists Art Trail every year.
In 2021, Carole was interviewed at her home by the BBC and later featured on BBC South Today, talking about her participation in the ‘Portraits for NHS Heroes’ scheme via Instagram, where she painted a free portrait of an NHS doctor.

Some years ago, friends of mine were moving house, relocating north and wanting a lasting reminder of their old home in Mid-Sussex. I was very happy to be commissioned to paint these famous Sussex landmarks, locally known as Jack & Jill Windmills which overlook the village of Clayton and the Sussex Weald.
I opted to visit the site on the South Downs in the early spring with my camera on a bright clear day and set out to capture the exposed nature of the hillside, with its bare trees and flowering gorse bordering the fields. The resulting photos were then used as a basis for the painting which now takes pride of place in their home.

Working mainly in acrylics, Glen seeks to capture atmosphere, mood and light in his paintings. His style is meticulously detailed and this is achieved through a combination of accurate drawing skills, followed by overpainting using pallet knife work and base colours to influence the layers above.
