I am very much a multi-media painter - working from a base of watercolour and building up layers of inks, pastels, charcoal, wax crayons etc. - in fact, anything that gives me the right tones and textures of Nature. I am definitely NOT a purist! There is much scraping and scratching involved in my process (and a little brushwork) with the final painting often held together with strips of sellotape - that's why I rarely sell originals!
I am unusually prolific and capture my daily dog walks and cycle rides. So, if you are after a particular scene in the East Sussex area, there's a good chance I have painted it at some time. Please ask.
I have finally been persuaded to exhibit and sell my work. All paintings on my website are available as high-quality, signed prints on either Canvas or as Framed Prints.

I live in East Sussex and have been painting for a number of years. I am a contemporary artist and am continually in search of a more dynamic style, having completed a year's diploma course in 2018.
I have been greatly influenced by Cezanne and Pissarro and I am in awe of some of the old masters such as Caravaggio and Rembrandt. Painting is my passion and I have used Acrylic and Watercolour, but now paint in Oil and love this medium.
My work includes landscapes, country scenes including cows, sheep, pigs and poultry. My floral art is modern and expressive.

Helen is based in West Sussex, near the Hampshire border. She originally developed her painting practice through a love for depicting wildlife and finds immense pleasure in conveying life in her subjects. Human figurative work is also proving to be very satisfying, along with landscapes and still life. Please see her website for a fuller picture of her work.
Originally self-taught, she developed her painting techniques assisted by workshops, tutorials, books and most importantly, a lot of practice and observation. Keen to explore every aspect of her artistic self, Helen is currently taking a degree in painting at the Open College of Arts. She works in oils, acrylic, gouache graphite pencil, charcoal and pastels and often experiments with other mediums.
Helen's paintings have won Visitor’s Choice awards in local exhibitions; her work has also appeared in online exhibitions and her painting of a nurse for Portraits for NHS Heroes (2020) was selected to appear in the beautiful book for this project, published by Bloomsbury Press.
